Well done to the 4 people who have entered the 100 word challenge online; this means children and teachers from everywhere can see you work. Does that make you nervous or excited?

Yesterday it was my birthday and I was so excited.
My mum said” your birthday present will arrive tomorrow”. I couldn’t wait. The day I had been waiting for had finally arrived. My mum blindfolded me and we walked for 5 minutes. Then we had to step and then she un- tied the blindfold. WOW a hot air balloon thank you. We started to go up and I felt so happy. The fresh air in my face wow! it is so cool. I could see grey clouds coming from over from a distance. Then it was dark and wet we started going down. But what happened next? ……. One stormy evening I was sitting inside watching a movie about air balloons. As it was getting later and later I ran upstairs still thinking about the air balloons. I quickly put my pyjamas on and got to bed. In my dreams I had a weird dream. It was about the air balloons. The next morning I woke and looking down I was surprised to see I was sitting on a air balloon. I told my mum but I couldn't walk on it. She wasn't there. Oh no what will I do?
As we flew higher and higher, my stomach started to turn and nothing could stop it. When we appeared to be at the top I looked down and I was surprised to see a circus! I looked at the balloon flyer and said "Do you see many strange things when your up here?" He nodded and looked back out to the sky. I saw phenomenal views from the balloon such as hills gleaming at me telling me to run around them like I was a child again. I hadn't noticed this yet but the fire above me seemed to be glowing more than usual. Do you think that's normal? (108 words)
Today was the drastic day were there was no tommorow in neverland.Unfortuantley we had to leave due to the most tragic accident on the universe waking up sleepy! there was no way to get across the borders only by fearful air ballooons. We nervously climbed into the balloon feeling depressed. However, once i got in my heart stopped as i looked down i was suprised to see joyful little green smurfs on the other side of the border, singing happily to their little marvellous smurf tunes then they spotted us, they scattered away feeling scared but that was the last of us! But what happens next?....,

But what happens next?...., Last week, we had a very successful set of 100 word challenges. Teachers and children from around the world were impressed with your interesting punctuation, varied vocabulary and a range of openers.
Several commenters said that we need to check our work through when we are finished for small (but very important) mistakes like capitals in the wrong places and full stops. This week the 100 word challenge is for homework. You can choose to do it on the blog (where it will be linked up to 100wc) or in your homework book. Whichever you choose, it must be your best work! If you need ideas, don't forget to read others' writing at 100wc.net This week's prompt uses a hot air balloon as inspiration! It needs to include this clause: .....looking down, I was surprised to see… My Maths says that you can write up to 106 words! Remember, write 20 words at a time, then edit very carefully. Following our technical problems today, with some children losing work on Microsoft 365, we found a way to post our 100 word challenges (taking a screen shot of our work, then cropping and posting as a picture)!
Some had to redo them so are a little rushed; thus, be understanding when commenting. It would be great if some of the Year 6s used our positive comments style (as Caitlin has begun to do) which can be found here! By tomorrow all of the 100 word challenges will be linked up to 100wc.net, so don't forget to leave positive comments for others and direct them back to your post by telling them your number on 100wc.net! In fact, Sky has had a lovely comment from a teacher called Miss Newton, because she left such a good comment for another child. Great work, Sky! Also, well done to Caitlin who has started commenting on others' work. |
