Think about your favourite meal. What do you like about it? How would you describe it to someone who has never tasted it? Think of its appearance, how it smells and what it tastes like. Think about what makes the meal special. Your task is to write a description of your favourite meal for someone who has never tasted it. Don't forget to add lots of noun phrases, similes and metaphors - think M and S Food! Eg. The succulent, glistening beans on the clean, white plate draw me near. Want to track who visits your site and from which countries?
Try adding Flag Counters to your site. It should appear at the bottom like it does on this site.... 1. Go to flagcounter.com. Choose the counter style you want then click GET YOUR FLAG COUNTER NOW. 2. You will get some code for websites. Copy and paste it (Make sure you get it all) 3. Go back to your Weebly site with your login. 4. Drag the Custom HMTL box into the page. Paste the code from Flag Counters into that box. REPEAT FOR EACH PAGE. Save the changes, then go back to your website eg. huskysj.weebly.com and check if the flag counters have appeared! Good luck! Which countries will appear first on your flag counter? Well done for wanting to have a go with the You tube videos.
Follow the steps below: 1. Find the URL (starts http:// etc) for the Youtube video you want to insert. 2. Drag the You tube icon into your website. The video that appears is called LOST. 2. Edit by clicking on the blue box at the top, and a box marked Youtube URL should appear. 3. Enter the Youtube URL (copying from the URL from the Youtube video you chose) 4. Hey presto.... the video you want should appear. Any problems, just reply to this blog! To make your website more interesting, try adding a Voki, where a character speaks the text you type in! What to do: 1. Go to voki.com and register using your @durhamlearning.net email. 2. Select your avatar and customise him/her/it! 3. Add some text persuading people to look at your website, by clicking on the Text icon. Ideas: a. Questions to hook the reader in b. Boastful adjectives in 3s c. List of benefits by looking at this website d. Final persuasive phrase or quotation from a happy customer! 4. Choose the accent you want your character to talk in. 5. Then embed the code in your site using the MORE > CUSTOM HTML paste function. In the end, your website will talk to the readers! As part of the build up to Easter, Year 6 have been learning about different festivals.
This week, we learnt about Ramadan and Eid Ul Fitr and compared the fasting with Lent. Mrs Henderson and the class made a Popplet mind map with the iPad. Can you think of anything to add? We had a guest today linked to World Book Day.
