This week's Stars of the Week were:
Kaine whose narrative text was fantastic and Lucy who has worked so hard on editing for her spelling and punctuation.
Well done!
Everyone did so much good work last week: interesting narrative texts, lots of fractions, decimals and percentages and our swag bags are coming together.

We have been learning about the Highwayman Poem by Alfred Noyes.
We discussed what makes a good poetry performance and here it is: It might be useful for tomorrow's Big Writing, where we will retell the story. Today's learning objective in Numeracy was to explain solutions to area and perimeter problems. For some of us, it was the first attempt using Show Me, where we can make a 'Podcast' of our learning. Watch them below! They show good understanding that the perimeter is the outside ("You have to measure each side, each side, add 'em up!") and the area is the inside ("Length x Width is the area!"). So far, I've spotted 1 mistake (maybe it was deliberate?) - Can you find it? Also, 2 are silent - can you follow the pen marks for an explanation? We are packed and ready to go. After that, we have the final challenge activity. See you all soon... Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic last day of term at Tanfield Comp today. The two Steves (Barlow and Skidmore) entertained us with hilarious tales from their stories. As you can see from the video below, it was a fully interactive experience, which the children raved about on the way home! They encouraged us to believe that 'we are all writers'. My favourite part was when they said that you should write about what you know: YOU! They also took the time to talk to Leah about her 100wc post. What was your favourite part? Enjoy the video below - sorry there is no sound, but I've added a Youtube clip to make it more atmospheric! Spooky Literacy Day from Mark temple on Vimeo. In 2010, it was dark and gloomy. It was Halloween they was a man who always handed you lots of sweets. Every would go to his house and get lots of sweets he had 2 kids. There were 2 twin boys, they were only 5 so they weren't aloud to go out by there self. But we were because we were all 11 year old. My mam give my friends I was not happy because if went to there door there mums wouldn't give them out. However we were still friends all of us went in my hose because they were sleeping and it was getting to late and we all went to bed.
