Today, we listened to and sang 'In the Ghetto' by Elvis Presley. We discussed how 'ghettoes' (places of poverty in the cities) were common in the early 1950s as the world recovered from the Second World War.
As we had some budding Elvises in the class, the video below gives you a chance to sing with the lyrics. I'm looking forward to the Talent Show....
Just thought I'd share this with you. Adam said "Mam what is a ghetto?" I replied, "It's an area within a city with lots of poverty."
With that Adam looked shocked "I thought it was a dessert mam."
"No son, that's a gateaux!!"

We used to listen to Elvis all the time in Mrs Johnsons class! We got to dance to his songs at the end of the day, can we do it in this class?

i love that song but my mam is getting annoyed because now i sing it everywhere! :) Can we listen to some more Elvis songs like Blue sueade shoes, hound dog or viva las vegas?

i am a fan of elvis my grandma got me into him and lots more 1950 songs shes got loads of 1950 cd's
