Firstly, thank you for using bold to highlight the prompt words. It made them easy to see.
Your opening sentence is very well written. It invited me to read on to find a near tragedy awaited you. It can be so easy to be distracted on the road when we have our attention fixed on something else. There is no doubt the speeding car was travelling well beyond the speed limit, even for a motorway. Your story is not only interesting and had a happy ending, it is a warning for all to be careful near roads. Well done!
I can see the care you have taken with spelling and punctuation. My only suggestion might be not to start sentences with “then”. Again, well done. :)
Have you taken the opportunity to visit the entries of students from other schools? It is interesting to see how others have approached the prompt. Don’t forget to leave them a comment if you do visit.
Keep entering the 100WC. You have a talent for writing. :)

A fantastic piece of writing, Lara. You have taken good care over your commas and choice of language. As a result, you clearly impressed Mr Mannell.
I would agree with him too - other openers instead of then would have perfected your story! Great work though.
