100 Word Challenge: Free Choice

Freedom! This week you have freedom to choose any topic for your 100 word challenge.
Here are a few ideas:

A recount of your weekend
A letter to Spoonsclass in America
A description of a witch
Instructions how to ….
A balanced argument about the Olympics being held in Stanley

Remember this is a good opportunity to practise the following:

Openers with commas
Connectives (because, thus, consequently, however, which/who)
A range of punctuation ( ) “ ”
Including questions
Proofreading when you are finished for capitals and punctuation

My weekend went like this:
On Friday night, I had to go to the Metro Centre to get my IPad fixed. So when I was there, I got some monster energy stickers in blue and I have put them on my bike and scooter. Then on Saturday and Sunday, I was at my grandmas and grandads because my dad was painting! Furthermore, I went on the motorbike with my dad and it was great !

Here is a description of a Witch.

Witch's always wear wig's because they are bald. (Often they get wig rash.) In Addition, they have long, pointy nose's which useally have warts on the end of them. Furthermore, they wear long black gloves which cover their gresome finger nails. Witch's never wear high heels. They wear flat shoes because they have square toes. As well as this, whitch's wear huge, black, pointy hats which are in the shape of a cone.

Witches is the plural of witch. Like beach turns into beaches. Can you think of any other examples?

Here is a description about when I went to Chester park.

On Monday me, my brother,my dog and my mam went to Chester park. Firstly, we went to the river and we saw some swans, which were nice to look at. While we were looking at some swans two ducks started to chase each other(it was very funny!). Then, we went to a zipline, which was absolutely amazing because it went really fast! In addition, we went on something called the Spacewalker. It is an object which makes you feel like you are walking through space. Would you like to have a go on it? Finally, me and my brother went into the park(my dog and my mam did not go in because dogs weren't allowed)

I went to Chester Park this weekend; however, there was nowhere for the swans to swim because the river was swollen with lots of rainwater!

Excellent range of punctuation, including a question.

If you can, use mum not mam.

Here is a description of a witch:

Witches wear a wig, which sometimes gives them scalp rash and they have to itch their greasy heads. These scary old lady’s, never wear high heels because they have squared feet, in which they have to wear normal, flat old lady’s shoes to hide their feet. Sometimes, if your lucky, you might even see a witch in Stanley front street, thus you’de better be careful because you might get turned into a white, hairy mouse or even get spat on off their blue spit! Witches sometimes wear a pointed hat, which is shaped into a cone, yet they sometimes don’t as they can get very hot heads.

Watch out for a witch!

The alliteration of the last sentence is really effective - like a tongue twister! Lots of descriptive detail - great!

This is what I did on the 27th and 28th of April for Bethany’s birthday:
after school on the 27th of April me and Shannon-marie went to bethanys for her birthday sleepover. First we went to asda to get some sweets for the nights stay. We had a takeaway pizza and chips. Yum! After that we went up to bed and went to sleep at half one in the morning! the next morning (the 28th of April) the three of us went to the metro center with Lewis M and Cameron. Then, we went to McDonalds for dinner. Then, we went to appy feet (a shop in the Metro Center) to get our feet nibbled by fish to get all of the dry skin off of.

Sounds like fish (except for the fish part!). A good range of time connectives for a recount and some additional detail.

Don't forget capitals for people, places and starts of sentences.

You have included some good detail: brackets, openers and other details. However, you must use full stops and capitals. Take time at the end to edit your work.

Here is a diary entry for Frodo Baggins:
Dear diary,
Today was the first day of my perilous, life-threatening quest to destoy the Ring of Power. Belive it or not, Sam, Pippin and I have already faced a peril; a black hooded, collosal (Well, compared to us Hobbits.) thing, which seemed to have a black shadow for a face. Sniffing the air with an invisible nose, the creature failed to detect a scent, yet I have the feeling he thought we were there, even if he belived his nose. All of a sudden, I had an urge to try the Ring on, despite Gandalf's warnings against it. However, I didn't. Wizards are wise, and are nearly always right.

A terrific diary recount. A great range of punctuation, adjectives in lists, and a range of long and short sentences (one of your targets).

What is the spelling rule for believe? Can you think of other examples?

Saturday went like this,

I woke up approximately 7.30AM, i ate my breakfast (COCO POPS!) after that, i got bored ,consequently, we headed for a fabulous day at South Shields, the weather was sunny although it was a little windy, when we got there i made friends with numerous boys who were playing football and very kindly asked me to join in,which was exilerating!. after that, i had a huge ice cream from the POKEY HAT which was lush,very refreshing to say the least, shortly after that we got into the car and followed the coast line through Whitburn, Seaburn and then finally to Sunderland past the Stadium of Light football ground,then headed home, unfortunately to do my home work.

saturday went like this....

i woke up at 7.00am and got ready for horse riding. I went downstairs and had my breakfast,(full engilish breakfeast), and then i got my stuff and shoes on then i went! I got there and went on a hack, i rode a horse called poppy. She is black and head shy, which means that you dont like your head stroked! then we started to gallope and me and my friends were going really fast! then we came back and cleaned up the yard for a bit then had our dinner!

Good details, particularly the explanation of 'head shy'. However, lots of your sentences start with I / Then. Can you think of more adventurous openers for a recount?

At Skeggness my younger brother Kian had a football tournament. If the tournament was competitive, my brothers team would have came second. They won 5 and drew 2 which is pretty impressive considering they are only 6-7 years of age. There was a big presentation for all the teams that competed and the even met Jason Mcentire the retired professional football player. They all shook his hand a received a trophy. While I was there, I went swimming and I went down a couple of big slides called the Typhoon, the Twister and the Tornado. When I was swimming, the pool was jam packed with people;my little brother Lennon dropped his dummy (soother) and I had to fish it out. I hope I can go there again someday.

On Sunday I went with my Mam to watch my friend Charly and her lovely white pony Barney in a show jumping competition. The show was on at Holmside Hall near Lanchester, we arrived there at 10:30am and Charly jumped in a clear round competition first, she did very well but not quite well enough to win a rosette. The next competition she rode in was pairs with her friend Natalie and her pony Smudge. They did very well in this round they came second, Charly’s sister Hannah and her friend Charline came first in this round on their ponies Duke and Lexi.

on saturday i woke up at half past eight in the morning,yet i lay in my cosy memory faom bed for at least twenty mintues.Once i decided to climb out of bed, i realised my Mam was cooking breakfast (full english) together with a hot cup of tea.Eventually,i quickly put my clothes on because we were rushing to take Finleys friend home,ben so that he could get to football training on time.After that me,my mam and finley went to metro wher i got my american flag leggings,which were from reble reble.Later on Tracey,who is jasmines mam came to pick me up to go and sleep at jasmines,my best friends,!

This is how my weekend went with my Dad.
On saturday at 11:00am i went to tennis but my sport wereat a compition which is called Trampoline so i went upstairs on the balacony and the pool tables i met my friend there he is called Aron Sadle so i ask my Mam if i could have fifty pence just to have one simply game with him she said "NO!".Then after i went to bowls with my Dad when we got there it was like spain it was that hot he played his first coupleof games it was the first one to eleven the other team won and we lost my Dad was devisated so we went into the club house for a ginger snap,chocolate digestive or just a orinaganal digestive so i had two ginger snaps when my Dad went outside because he needed to check the car door to see if it was locked i snook a little dip of tea on my ginger snaps there was alot of people i didnt know but my Dad knew some of them then my Dad started to play the matchs again so i stay in the club house drawing in my drawing book i was drawing christmas penguins,wedding dresses,wedding shoes for brides,bridesmaids and the groom and i was trying to stech my Dad bending down but i failed once and for all.

Lots of detail in your writing, such as the flavour of biscuits and the weather at the bowling!

However, you have only used 2 full stops. Remember to put them in when you stop reading / change the subject.
