After learning about the key events in the Battle and the strengths and weaknesses of each side, we used the field to reenact the battle!
We looked at the difference between fact and opinion in Mr Stink. After that we used facts to support our opinions... Great teamwork was shown in the groups! After Edward the Confessor died in 1066, the Witan (council) had to decide who would be King of England. We discussed the candidates but were keenest on Harold Godwinson and Harald Hardrada. Who do you think is the most persuasive? Do you know who was made King? Today we became the particles in solids, liquids and gases. Here is a diagram of those particles: Can you match our pictures and videos to the diagram? I hope you have all had a lovely summer and looking forward to a new term in Year 6.
Our Topic work for the first term will focus on the Normans. I won't give away too much about them, but below are some weblinks to the older periods of History: Stone Age https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFJgsI5NTg8 http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/handsonhistory/ancient-britain.shtml Iron Age / Celtic Britain http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Homework/celts/index.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/teachers/keystage_2/activities/history2.shtml Roman Britain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=475sbcUj9t4 http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/handsonhistory/romans.shtml Anglo-Saxons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcIRDP_SzCQ http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/anglo_saxons/ Vikings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbtXtHlhJsY http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/handsonhistory/vikings.shtml Stone Age https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFJgsI5NTg8 http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/handsonhistory/ancient-britain.shtml What can you find out? Following our moving Leavers' Assembly, all of Upper School headed to the Park. Watch the video below and leave a comment about your day.... We hope you have a lovely summer holidays! I think that word sums you all up: you were fantastic tonight (and this afternoon)! You showed what you are all capable of...and then added a little more to wow your audiences. Below is a photo Miss Hemmings took this afternoon:
The time has come to get ready for the Leavers' Song! The lyrics were begun by Alyssa, Jack F. and Ryan and then developed by the class. We finished our SATs and took the long way round, Some bananas for the way. And I sure did like reading and writing, And the Maths was easy some say. When we're gone, when we're gone. You're gonna miss us when we're gone. We’ve made friends along the way, We wish Sports Day’s every day. Oh You're gonna miss us when we're gone. When we're gone, when we're gone. You're gonna miss us when we're gone. You're gonna miss us by our walk, You're gonna miss us by our talk. Oh. You're gonna miss us when we're gone. We got the bus to Ho-owtown, The route with prettiest of views. It had climbing, It had swimming. It had jogging and it had dipping. Yeah, we really do have memories. When we're gone, when we're gone. You're gonna miss us when we're gone. You're gonna miss us by our walk, You're gonna miss us by our talk. Oh. You're gonna miss us when we're gone. When I'm gone, when I'm gone. We're gonna miss you when we're gone. Mrs H, Mr T, Mrs. J., Mr P. Oh We're gonna miss them when we're gone. When we're gone, when we're gone. The teachers may shed a tear. They will cry, we will weep. But our future is clear. Oh We're gonna miss you when we're gone. |
