This week, we began our Star of the Week Awards.
The Star of the Week award went to Tyler for his superb Big Writing (an agony aunt letter from the character Chloe in Mr Stink). This week's internet warrior (for use of Bug Club, Mathletics and blogging comments) went to Allana for yet another Bronze certificate on Mathletics! Great work, you two! Below are the first children from Year 6 who have achieved their Silver award (for achieving Bronze for five weeks). Great work! Also Jack W. was Star of the Week last week for his efforts in writing. Well done! Last week's class award went to Aidan for his excellent work in Numeracy and his perspective art, particularly how he added the telegraph poles towards a vanishing point!
Great effort - well done! This week's Star of the Week was Leah P, who was described by Miss Witherspoon in America as a 'dream pen pal' for her emails back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean.
Last week's Star of the Week was Nathan, who has been working really hard in Numeracy! Well done you two! Last week, we actually gave out 3 class awards: Cailen and Curtis both achieved more than 20000 points on Mathletics, whilst Lara won the class design for Nick Sharratt's pants (see the previous post). Brilliant effort! In addition, most of the class got their first Bronze certificate in Mathletics! Well done - keep practising everyone! ![]() What a fantastic week! Internet Safety, lots of tests (not always fun, but we can see the progress we're making!), emails to America and that Netball competition! Our star of the week this week was Kristen, who wrote a great email to our classpals and always gets on with her activities! Meanwhile, in other news, our blog now has had 33,000 visitors from 96 countries (see the bottom of the page). I wonder if we can get to 100 different countries by the end of the year? Where will they be from? Success card for children who can work out which countries haven't been on our blog yet and find something out about that country! Everyone did so much good work last week: interesting narrative texts, lots of fractions, decimals and percentages and our swag bags are coming together.
This week's Stars of the Week were: Kaine whose narrative text was fantastic and Lucy who has worked so hard on editing for her spelling and punctuation. Well done! Micah was our Star of the Week this week, for working really hard on his Writing Assessment and moving up a sub-level.
He used 3 out of his 3 long term targets in his writing - brilliant! This week's Star of the Week was Logan for using her LTTs in her Science book.
She used an embedded clause with 'which' in her work on how light travels. Have you been using your LTTs (Long Term Targets) in lessons apart from Literacy? We will find out when the results of the latest writing assessment come in! Fingers crossed..... |
AuthorWe are Year 6 at Tanfield Lea Community Primary School, a primary school in County Durham who want to broaden our horizons and to show the world what we have to offer. We are using this blog to explore web design, write creatively and as a wider audience for the class' talents!
