Next week, we will be looking at scales and how big the jumps are: Sometimes the jumps go in 1s,2s,25, 100, 1000s or just decimals: 0.1, 0.2., 0.3 etc. What scales do you have in the house? What are the jumps worth? My measuring jug goes in 50ml, so 7 jumps up is 350ml. Try the game below to get your mind in gear for it! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays (and getting some SATs practice too). Well done to Adam and Logan for working hard on Mathletics last week - there will lots of certificates, including some silvers, after Easter. Check out Miss Hemmings' blog for more Sleepover and Activity Day fun! Don't forget to leave a comment.... Hope everyone is enjoying the hols! I just got a tip from Twitter that Math Duel from the app store is free today! It's fun and usually costs £1.99!
Give it a try... Last week's class award went to Aidan for his excellent work in Numeracy and his perspective art, particularly how he added the telegraph poles towards a vanishing point!
Great effort - well done! We are going to be writing some book reviews for a competition next term. However, to do this we all need to have read some of the books that we are going to review.
Therefore, we now have a large pile of books waiting to be checked out and read carefully. For the moment, all you need to do is sign out one of the books and read the whole story. (I will explain how we will check them out). If you want to keep any notes while you read about the characters, settings, plot, your feelings about the book, its style etc, that would would be really useful for your future review. Our reviews will then be shared with other schools. Your choices are: 'Bill's New Frock' by Anne Fine 'Shadow' by Michael Morpurgo 'Billionaire Boy' by David Walliams TOP TIP: Read the Blurb of all three books before you decide which one you would like to read. Please do not post any comments here yet... we are saving the space for when we write our reviews. This week, we would like our Quadblogging partners to:
1. Look at our book reviews (below) - Have you read these books? What did they think of them? 2. Look at our pupils' websites and leave a comment. The pupil sites can be found by clicking on Year 6 Pupil Sites. Happy clicking! |
